Update: I’ve added new photos this year (2019) as we prepare to go through Truth in the Tinsel once again.
Our family is going to be celebrating advent this year with Truth in the Tinsel.
I have to admit, creating a ornament craft with multiple young kids in the busy days leading to Christmas is a little daunting to me. So to make sure I don’t get overwhelmed we’ll be using the Truth in the Tinsel Printable Ornaments.
And since, I don’t really have room for 144 ornaments, once the kids color their ornament each day, we’ll add them to their own advent books.
Each day has a circle guide to glue the ornament to, the day number, and the clue word to trace. My kids each picked their own color of cardstock. (I printed all of them at Office Depot and white cardstock is the same price as colored.)
Then I printed the pages, cut them into fourths, and punched a hole in the corner of each page. We slid a 1″ book ring through the pages and closed it to make each book.
*These cards are meant to be used with the Truth in the Tinsel advent activities. This free printable DOES NOT have the scripture readings, talking points, or activity ideas. Get the Truth in the Tinsel eBook here. You’ll also want to make sure you purchase the printable ornaments.
In the past I’ve used a circle cutter to cut out all the Truth in the Tinsel ornaments (24 for each child). However, this also makes a great scissor practice for your kids! Just color, cut, glue, and trace.
Now that I’m feeling a little ahead of the game, I’m looking forward to beginning our Truth in the Tinsel advent activities on December 1st.
Great idea! I might do this too, as my kids are just in that phase of learning to print their letters and this is a good focus on lowercase letters, as they have mostly been working on uppercase. And a booklet is great too, as we may not do a tree this year either. 🙂
So thankful that you posted this! This is my third year of Truth in the Tinsel, and I decided to do it this way…the kids will have something to refer to throughout the study, and we can look at the ornaments from previous years. I’m really excited about this option!
I’m so glad these will be useful to you. We’re looking forward to starting tomorrow!
Love this idea! So cute! Please keep us (me!) updated the rest of December–I’d love to see how the books look all filled up!
