Before we get started with our 31 days of sharing busy bags and quiet time activities, I thought it would be a nice time to give you some ideas for storing your soon-to-be growing collection of busy bags.
Remember you can purchase our entire Busy Bag Bundle for only $5!
1. You can store your busy bags standing upright in a small bin or box like at Our Journey Westward and The Princess & The Tot.
2. Or maybe a canvas tote bag would work better for you.
We’ve actually used both of these methods at one time or another, but since we’re dealing with very limited space right now, I kept looking for a better solution for our family.
3. Then I stumbled upon the wonderful idea (on Pinterest) of using a towel bar and clips to hang busy bags against an unused wall. This has turned out to be the perfect solution for us.
We hung two 18 inch towel bars (the cheapest ones we could find) and used drapery clips that I purchased at a yard sale last summer (I knew I could use them for something).
Drapery clips at the store are super expensive! But don’t worry, Arlee, at Small Potatoes shows how to easily use book rings and binder clips to hang busy bags.
Easy, inexpensive, and saves space…that’s definitely a winner for our family!
Which storing method do you think would work best for you?

I absolutely love this idea! I have been looking for more independent activities for my 4 year old and almost 2 year old that do not require any screens! This is perfect—I have a new project to complete now! Thanks & God bless!
Clips are cheap at IKEA if you are lucky enough to have one in your area. Most of our busy bags are stored in a 3 ring binder. Great idea- just found your blog.
I have our busy bags stored in a tote, but we’re getting too many to fit and it’s hard to see them. I’ve seen them hung in closets, but we don’t have closet space to spare. I really, really like the towel bar idea. I think it’s the perfect solution for us!
I’m really excited about your busy bag series and am subscribing, so I can follow along!
Awesome! What did moms do before Pinterest??
I have no idea 🙂
Thank you for the great tips!! I do have a question. At what age do you think a child needs to be for the busy bags to be useful?
I’ve started using some of the busy bags with our 13 month old with a little supervision since she still likes to put things in her mouth. We’ll also be sharing a couple of ideas for babies this month.
However, you could use the busy bag idea to simply keep some of your little ones toys organized and “new” by only giving them to her when you need her to play independently for a few minutes.
Your daughter may also like a simple, homemade clank can. It’s a great little toy that can grow with your child.
