Should you break a good routine?

06/8/2015

I’ve been thinking about routines a lot as I work to make over my mornings. Routines and I have a bit of a love/hate relationship. On one hand, I love how routines take some of the brain work out of everyday situations. When I’m in a good routine I don’t always have to think about what I need ... read more

3 Things That Wreck My Mornings & What I’m Doing to Fix Them

06/1/2015

If you're anything like me, your days can often be filled with surprises and even the best laid plans can be turned upside down within a matter of minutes. One sure way of making my day harder is by starting out on the wrong foot first thing in the morning. I wake up late with a child attempting ... read more

05/27/2015

I know summer's getting close when I start to see the summer bucket lists flood my Pinterest stream :) Have you seen them too? I'm definitely not against prioritizing and making a plan, but I want to offer some encouragement to everyone who may not be adding extravagant activities to the ... read more

Happy Birthday, Emahry!

05/10/2015

Our oldest is turning eight today. How did that even happen?! Where has the time gone! It seems like eight is the beginning of the transitional years...old enough to actually be a big help, but still young enough to reach for my hand in a crowd. Here's to a great year, Emahry! Thanks for ... read more

05/6/2015

Mother's Day is just a few days away. Are you excited? Maybe you know that you'll be delivered breakfast in bed, surrounded by your grateful family, and surprised with special gifts. Maybe you'll be forbidden from housework for the day and you'll be treated to lunch. Maybe you'll be reminded of how ... read more

Instagram post 2192233792818029694_1677350297 This is all the evidence I can share of our handmade gifts this year 😉 (we keep up with extended family through social media).
.
I love making gifts for Christmas, but somehow it always sneaks up on me and I finish in a mad dash at the last possible minute. I always vow to begin earlier the following year...then life happens.
.
Crafting with kids or even with kids around can be daunting, but my husband reminded me to just let them help when they can and let them practice on their own too.
.
So yesterday, the younger and older all happily hand-sewed while my 9 year old ran the sewing machine pedal for me. Did it take much extra effort on my part? Not at all. But we all thoroughly enjoyed our time creating! (And we finished gifts for the youngest 4 cousins!)
.
Do you make any Christmas gifts? I'd love ideas for next year (that I'll want to start in October but will probably begin a week before Christmas.)
Instagram post 2191478764293441351_1677350297 “Our world today so desperately hungers for hope, yet uncounted people have almost given up. There is despair and hopelessness on every hand. Let us be faithful in proclaiming the hope that is in Jesus.” -Billy Graham
.
So thankful today for the hope we have through Jesus...hope for an abundant life here on earth and hope for eternal life with him forever!
.
Have you experienced the hope Jesus brings?
Instagram post 2190795839596009956_1677350297 Free Printable Christmas Game: The kids played this game over and over for an hour last night! They cheered for eachother and encouraged eachother and it was glorious!
•
Decorate the Christmas Tree is a cooperative game I created several years ago. Players work together to get all the ornaments on the tree before the game ends--but watch out for the pesky kitty who like to knock them off!

Do you play games as a family? Which are your favorite ones?
Instagram post 2190028022613420735_1677350297 I don't know about you, but I feel like November flew by at lightning speed. Now here we are on the first Monday of December!
•
This month, the kids and I are learning the hymn, All Praise to Thee Eternal Lord, with the #happyhymnody community.
•
This is a new-to-us hymn but I already love it! You can grab the free hymn guide which includes the lyrics as well as copywork and coloring pages (including the one on the left that I drew).
•
We've added the lyrics to our morning menu memory work. Each child has a folder with our new pieces typed out including scripture, poem, hymn, and quote or folk song. We go through this folders during our homeschool Morning Time. We'll also listen to the hymn at least one other time each day this month.
•
Do you learn hymns with your kids? How do you do memory work in your home? We'd love tips for what works for you! Do you think I should draw more hymn and scripture coloring pages?
•
Remember, you can get your own copy of this hymn and coloring sheet along with many other resources. Just head to @happyhymnody or let me know you'd like the link and I'll DM it to you.
Instagram post 2189337225517723332_1677350297 Seen, understood, remembered...it’s what we all long for.
•
God sees the work done when no one else is around. He sees the late nights caring for a sick child and the early morning sacrifice to spend time in his word.
•
He sees the holding of the tongue when we want to demand our rights and the holding of the hand of our spouse when we choose humility and forgiveness.
•
God sees the hearts that long to break the shackles of sin and complacency and he sees the tiny steps of faith we take as we learn to trust him more and more.
•
He sees and he remembers. So stand firm and keep doing what’s right. God knows his children and they are not forgotten!
•
Do you ever struggle with feeling forgotten or unseen? Let me know if this resonates with you in comments.

Instagram post 2185799373337087340_1677350297 Free Printable Tracing Cards: I can't believe we're less than a week away from December 1st! In our home this means we're preparing to start our annual advent devotion.
•
Our family has used and loved @oohamanda 's Truth in the Tinsel: An Advent Experience for Little Hands many times and I'm preparing to begin again this Sunday.
•
Truth in the Tinsel has daily scriptures, ornament crafts, short devotionals, and ideas for more ways to experience the word of the day. The crafts are a lot of fun, but I know I cannot handle a craft for 6 kids for 24 day, especially right before Christmas.
•
Thankfully, you can also purchase printable Truth in the Tinsel ornaments to color which is much more realistic for our family right now.
•
Years ago, I decided we needed a way to keep the kids ornaments all together and not taking over our house. Twenty-four ornaments for 6 kids quickly turns into 144 ornaments!
•
So, I created these printable tracing books each child could glue their colored ornaments onto. As an added bonus I included the key words in a traceable font so kids can practice handwriting and reinforce the main point each day.
•
These free printables are to be used along with the Truth in the Tinsel eBook and Printable Ornaments. (If you don't have them yet, there will be a Black Friday sale!) To download the free Advent Tracing Cards click the link in our profile @allourdays or leave me a comment asking for the link. I'll also be sharing how I prep these books in stories later today.
