Okay, here’s another activity for the Duplo and Lego fans. This time we’re working on finding a missing color based on a color pattern.

The printable pattern tower cards include cards to be used with the classic Duplo/Lego colors of red, yellow, blue and green as well as cards that add in the newer colors of light green, light blue, brown and black. The cards also include color words to help with word recognition.
Each card has one block that is left white and marked with a question mark. The child must use the pattern of the other blocks to determine what color the blank block should be. Then they build a tower to match the tower on the card, but with the mystery block shown as the correct color.
We use this busy bag mainly for our kindergartner, but our 4-year-old son can also solve some of the patterns on his own.
When you introduce this activity you might want to begin with the basic pattern of ABAB. Here’s an example of a basic pattern tower that our preschooler can complete independently.
As your child masters the easier patterns you can gradually add in cards with patterns that are more complex.
